LAND ROVER SOUTH DADE EMPLOYEES SHARE THEIR FAVORITE FOURTH OF JULY RECIPE

July 1st, 2022 by

As Independence Day approaches, the employees here at Land Rover South Dade are getting ready to celebrate with their families. When preparing for the fourth of July festivities, there are many tasks to mark off the list, but nothing is more important than getting a good barbeque recipe! We asked our employees to share their favorite way to barbeque, and many of them shared a pulled pork barbeque recipe by Tyler Florence from the Food Network.

Tyler’s recipe is briefly explained below:

  1. The paprika must be mixed with garlic powder, dry mustard, brown sugar, and some salt together in a bowl. Begin to rub the spice blend all over your piece of pork and then let sit in the fridge for at least one hour, or overnight if you would like.
  2. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F and then put the pork in a roasting pan for about 6 hours. The thickest part of the pork should register 170 degrees F but ensure that the pork is roasted until it is falling apart.
  3. While the pork roasts, this is when Tyler instructs us to make the barbeque sauce by combining vinegar, mustard, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, salt cayenne and black pepper in a saucepan and simmer on medium heat. Ensure to simmer gently and then allow it to sit until it is time to use.
  4. When the pork is complete, Tyler says to take it out of the oven and put it on a large platter. Allow the pork to rest for about 10 minutes. While this is happening deglaze the pan over medium heat with ¾ cup of water, scraping with a wooden spoon to pickup all the browned bits. Reduce by about by about half. Pour that into the saucepan and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. While the pork is still warm, you want to “pull” the meat, use the other to “pull” shreds of meat off the roast. Put the shredded pork in a bowl and pour half of the sauce over. Stir it all up so that the pork is coated with sauce.
  6. To serve, he says to spoon the pulled pork mixture onto the bottom half of each hamburger bun, and top with some Cole slaw. He recommends to serve with pickle spears and the remaining sauce on the side.
