HENNESSEY PRESENTS THE WORLD’S FASTEST AND MOST POWERFUL ROADSTER
Hennessey Special Vehicles, the Texas-based hypercar manufacturer has presented its new Venom F5, the fastest and most powerful Roadster. The details were released before its debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in Monterey, California.
The New Venom 5 Roadster is a follow-up to last year’s sold-out Venom F5 Coupe, with both hypercars holding the capability of exceeding 300 mph. The Venom F5 Roadster is based on the Venom F5 Coupe; the two are nearly identical mechanically, however, there are several features that distinguish the new open-air model from the coupe.
Hennessey’s renowned twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter ‘Fury’ V8 engine with an astounding 1,817 horsepower is mid-mounted in the carbon-fiber monocoque chassis. A durable automated single-clutch transmission transfers power to the rear wheels. With a dry weight of fewer than 3,100 pounds, the Venom F5 Roadster boasts extraordinary performance and an engineered maximum speed greater than 300 mph.
It was noted that while The Hennessey Venom GT Spyder currently holds the record for ‘world’s fastest convertible’ at 265.5 mph, Hennessey expects the Venom F5 Roadster to break this record.
The CEO and Company Founder, John Hennessey stated, “We created the Venom F5 to be the ultimate expression of a hypercar. The Roadster version takes the Coupe’s speed, exhilaration, and awe, plus a sprinkling of respect-inducing fear, to a new, truly visceral level that brings owners closer to the Venom F5’s extreme performance. Our 1,817 bhp ‘Fury’ engine screams behind the exposed cockpit, with its roar unobstructed by a roof – it is an unmatched automotive experience.”
What really distinguishes the F5 Roadster from the F5 Coupe is the hypercar’s new roofline. The F5 Roadster’s roof has been redesigned with a removable panel that was crafted from rigid carbon fiber composites. The roof is fully insulated against the elements and is lined with soft Alcantara upholstery. The panel is lightweight and easy to remove, owners may choose to store the panel in a bespoke Merino wool travel bag or as a standalone work-of-art on a custom-made pedestal made by Hennessey’s in-house design team to enhance the ownership experience.
The Venom F5 Roadster features a new tempered glass engine viewing window. This panel, located in the center of the rear engine cover, highlights the massive “Fury” V8 engine in all its splendor. The large glass panel can withstand aerodynamic forces more than 300 miles per hour and temperatures more than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Roadster also has unique wheels compared to the coupe. The lightweight wheels are forged from aluminum alloy and milled to perfection. Each spoke resembles an elongated Hennessey ‘H’ ‘Hennessey’ and ‘Roadster’ are milled into each wheel rim. Hyper Silver wheels can be upgraded to highly polished aluminum with a weeks-long hand-polishing process. The wheels are secured with five titanium nuts, a strong, heat- and corrosion-resistant, low-mass alloy.
Hennessey’s Venom F5 Coupe was engineered with an open-top version in mind, so only minor adjustments were needed to deliver coupe-rivaling chassis rigidity, strength, and stiffness. This ensures that drivers may access the same crisp handling characteristics with or without the roof.
Hennessey explains that The Venom F5 Roadster will be manufactured in Texas in an exclusive low volume of just 30 units to guarantee a unique ownership experience, similarly to the Venom F5 Coupe which sold out quickly after its appearance at the Monterey Car Week 2021. Roadster production begins in late 2022, with validation of the model’s high-speed capabilities set to occur as the production rate levels out.
